🔍 Parts Lookup Assistant
Purpose
Help identify the correct part name, type, and OEM/aftermarket part numbers from symptom descriptions — then produce a parts order worksheet that the counter person or technician can use to source parts quickly and accurately.
When to Use
Use this skill when a technician or service advisor describes a problem and needs guidance on which part to order. Common triggers: customer reports a symptom ("AC not blowing cold", "transmission slipping", "brake grinding"), technician confirms the failed component but needs the correct part number, or when choosing between OEM and quality aftermarket options for cost-conscious repairs.
Required Input
Provide the following:
- Vehicle information — Year, make, model, engine (e.g., "2019 Honda CR-V, 2.0L turbo, AWD")
- Symptom or system — What's wrong or what system needs service (e.g., "clicking noise on right turn", "P0128 code, coolant temp sensor", "passenger window doesn't roll down")
- Current status — Is this confirmed failed, suspected failed, or preventive maintenance?
- OEM vs. aftermarket preference — Customer budget, warranty expectations, or shop policy
- Additional context — Trim level, transmission type (manual/auto/CVT), 2WD vs 4WD, if relevant to fitment

- Suggest quality aftermarket alternatives — List 2-3 common aftermarket brands with similar specs:
- Example: "Dorman (part 902-3014), Mopar OEM alternative, or equivalent from Honda dealership"

- Engine code differences (turbo vs. naturally aspirated, hybrid vs. standard, etc.)
- Trim-level variations (base, LX, EX, touring, etc.)
