Claude + QuickBooks Online

Your customers, vendors, invoices already live in QuickBooks Online. Connected to Claude, your team can ask questions of that data, draft from it and act on it, without copying anything between tabs. Here’s what that looks like for small and mid-size businesses, and how we set it up.

What Claude does with your QuickBooks Online data

Real workflows we build on top of the connection. Each one becomes a skill your team runs in one step.

1

Overdue invoice reminders

Pull A/R aging, and for invoices 15/30/60 days late draft escalating reminder emails with a payment link.

2

Month-end variance commentary

Compare this month's P&L to last month and budget, and draft a plain-English summary of material variances for the owner.

3

Estimate-to-invoice conversion

Find accepted estimates not yet invoiced and create draft invoices for bookkeeper review.

4

Expense categorization review

Flag uncategorized or 'Ask My Accountant' transactions and suggest categories based on vendor history.

5

Cash-flow snapshot

Each Monday, summarize cash on hand, upcoming bills and expected receivables for the next 30 days.

How the connection works

Public REST Accounting API with OAuth 2.0 via the Intuit Developer portal. Under the Intuit App Partner Program (launched July 2025), write (Core) calls are free and read (CorePlus) calls are metered, with a free Builder tier of 500,000 reads/month.

Intuit offers an official QuickBooks connector for Claude. As of Intuit’s July 2026 update it can create, send and update invoices and estimates, add customers and products, send overdue reminders and read payroll data. Intuit also publishes an open-source QuickBooks Online MCP server.

Payment features require QuickBooks Payments (US only); heavy read usage is metered under the Intuit App Partner Program.

Questions

Does QuickBooks Online have an official Claude connector?+

Intuit offers an official QuickBooks connector for Claude. As of Intuit’s July 2026 update it can create, send and update invoices and estimates, add customers and products, send overdue reminders and read payroll data. Intuit also publishes an open-source QuickBooks Online MCP server. We can turn that on for your team and build skills on top of it, or extend it with custom tools where it falls short.

What QuickBooks Online data can Claude work with?+

Through the API, Claude can work with customers, vendors, invoices, estimates, bills, payments and more. We scope access to read-only wherever possible, and keep a person approving anything that changes records or reaches a customer.

Do we need a developer on staff?+

No. In a Claude Deployment Sprint we set up the connection, build the skills and train your team. You’ll need an admin login for QuickBooks Online and, if required, to approve API access with Intuit.

Will our QuickBooks Online data be used to train AI models?+

We set teams up on Claude business plans. Anthropic does not use inputs or outputs from its commercial products to train models by default.
