How the connection works
Public REST Accounting API with OAuth 2.0; Xero's developer pricing has a free Starter tier (up to 5 connections), with paid tiers for more connections and premium endpoints (Journals, XPM, Bulk Connections need Advanced tier and approval).
Xero launched an official Claude integration in May 2026, read-only at launch. Xero also publishes an open-source MCP server that can create contacts, draft invoices, quotes and payments, which we can host for teams that need write access.
The directory connector in Claude is read-only at launch; write workflows need the self-hosted official MCP server or a custom API integration.

Does Xero have an official Claude connector?+
Xero launched an official Claude integration in May 2026, read-only at launch. Xero also publishes an open-source MCP server that can create contacts, draft invoices, quotes and payments, which we can host for teams that need write access. We can turn that on for your team and build skills on top of it, or extend it with custom tools where it falls short.
What Xero data can Claude work with?+
Through the API, Claude can work with contacts, invoices, credit notes, quotes, bank transactions, payments and more. We scope access to read-only wherever possible, and keep a person approving anything that changes records or reaches a customer.
Do we need a developer on staff?+
No. In a Claude Deployment Sprint we set up the connection, build the skills and train your team. You’ll need an admin login for Xero and, if required, to approve API access with Xero Limited.
Will our Xero data be used to train AI models?+
We set teams up on Claude business plans. Anthropic does not use inputs or outputs from its commercial products to train models by default.
